Campaign ends for Phase 4 Lok Sabha polls
Battle lines were drawn as campaigning for the fourth phase of the biggest democratic exercise of the country came to an end at 5 pm on Saturday.

Stakes are high in phase 4, as 71 constituencies go to polls in nine states. In the 71 constituencies, 5 are in Bihar, 3 in Jharkhand, 6 in Madhya Pradesh, 17 in Maharashtra, 6 in Odisha, 13 each in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, 8 in West Bengal.
BJP, Congress, SP and BSP left no stone unturned to ensure their victory.
Lacklustre campaigning in second of three-phase polling in Kulgam district came to an end in Anantnag. Former CM Mehbooba Mufti, president of PDP is among the 18 candidates seeking mandate from this constituency.
Odisha: A strong Modi wave sweeping Odisha may upset the poll prospects of ruling Biju Janata Dal as Odisha goes for fourth and final phase of elections to the remaining six Lok Sabha and 41 Assembly seats on April 29.
Bengal: The hustle-bustle of high pitched electioneering for the fourth of the seven-phase election, to eight Lok Sabha seats of Baharampur, Krishnanagar, Ranaghat, Bardhaman Purba, Bardhaman, Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur and Birbhum, came to an end this evening.
In Hindi heartland: Campaigning for the crucial fourth phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh in 13 Lok Sabha seats ended, with political parties throwing their weight behind their candidates till the last moment. The third phase polling in Uttar Pradesh, will decide the fate of SP candidate Dimple Yadav, wife of party president Akhilesh Yadav from Kannauj.
Jharkhand: Campaigning in Jharkhand also came to an end on three Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand, including Chatra, Lohardaga (ST) and Palamu (SC).
Madhya Pradesh: The hurly-burly of campaigning died down in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Balaghat, Mandla and Chhindwara parliamentary constituencies which are scheduled to witness exercise of franchise on Monday under the general election’s fourth phase and this state’s first.
Desert state: The dust settled for the campaigning for 13 out of 25 seats of Rajasthan, going to polls in third phase of ensuing seven-phase LS polls.
