    The All India Radio (FM 100.3), Karaikal, will celebrate its 25th year of Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) on March 6.


    In a release here on Monday, G Swaminathan, Head of Office and Programmes, said a day-long special live interactive programmes was planned on March 6 in various areas to celebrate the milestone with listeners.


    The programmes will be held in Karaikal, Tiruvarur, Vaariyankaval, Mayiladuthurai, Kodiyakaadu, Kudavasal, Seerkazhi, Chidambaram, Nagapattinam, Kumbakonam, Mannargudi, Papanasam among other places.


    Several events and activities, including cultural competitions, special programmes (Indoor & Outdoor), felicitations and listeners’ meet are planned throughout the year.


    “With the commissioning of the new 10 KW FM transmitter and changes effected in the programme plan, listening and feedback have increased remarkably,” Swaminathan said.


    The number of letters received from listeners in 2018 stood at 24,268. Programmes were broadcast from outdoor with the participation of rural and urban listeners in over 300 occasions, he said.


    Listing out the programmes which received wide appreciation from the public, Swaminathan said that the two-way communication is being widened for increased participation of listeners through phone, SMS and E-mail.
