Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with Argentinian President Mauricio Macri here on Monday.

Mr Macri arrived India on Sunday on a three-day visit at the invitation of Mr Modi. He landed in Agra and visited the Taj Mahal before reaching New Delhi. Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore received him at the airport here.

Mr Macri's visit comes at a time when India and Argentina are celebrating the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations.

According to sources, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Emilio Monzo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Jorge Faurie, Government Secretary of Modernization Andr's Ibarra, Government Secretary of Agriculture, Luis Etchevehere, and senior officials are accompanying President Macri during the visit. President Macri is likely to visit Mumbai on Tuesday.

The visit closely follows on the heels of the highly successful visit of Prime Minister Modi to Argentina for the G20 from November 30 - December 1, 2018 and the very productive bilateral meeting that Prime Minister had with President Macri on that occasion, the MEA said.

The Bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister will be followed by the delegation level talks. There is likelihood of exchange of agreements and press statements as well, sources said.

The visiting Argentine President is the first nation head to arrive India after Pulwama terror attack and the government launching diplomatic offensive trying to 'isolate' Pakistan vis-a-vis its double standards on the issue terrorism.
