Five held for selling fake lottery tickets
Police arrested five persons on charges of selling fake lottery tickets, in Puducherry on Friday.

Acting on a tip off, the police rushed to the backside of Anna Thidal and rounded up five persons standing there in suspicious circumstances, the police said.
On interrogation, the police came to know that they were selling fake lottery tickets.
Police seized the printed lottery tickets and they were also informed that the arrested persons sent three-digit lottery tickets to their customers through Whatsapp. Besides, the police also seized Rs 23,000 cash from their possession.
The arrested persons were identified as Saravanan, Chandru, Natarajan, Prasanth and Rajkumar.
Police also seized a computer, printer and a calculator from the house of Saravanan.
3 held for selling gutkha
Meanwhile, police on Friday arrested three persons on charges of selling banned tobacco products like gutkha and harns, in Puduhcerry.
According to the police, they intercepted a youth with a bag on the Gandhi street on Friday afternoon and following a check, they recovered the gutkha and harns from the bag.
The arrested youth was identified as Manikandan of Kurinjinagar. He informed the police that he purchased the same from a shop on the Needarajappiar street owned by Mohanlal and Babulal.
Police along with Manikandan went to the shop and conducted a search there. During the search, the police seized banned products worth Rs 1 lakh and arrested all the three persons involved in the selling and buying of the banned tobacco products.
