Kiran Bedi suggests review test for Social Welfare Department officers
Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday visited the Social Welfare Department here to review the support system.

According to a Raj Nivas release, Bedi suggested on setting up of a help desk at the department to provide assistance to the senior citizens, the differently abled and others. She said the officers of the department should self-learn the law and rules relating to the subjects dealt by the department and also undergo a review test.
The Lt Governor said that the department have to discharge their functions as mandated under the various statutes offering protection and assistance and ensure that the officers/instrument required to apply law are in a position do so efficiently.
Launches Flag Day collections
Lt Governor Bedi on Friday inaugurated the Armed forces Flag Day collections. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the uniformed service officers have to serve the nation round the clock. Without the support of the uniformed sub-staff, officers could not discharge their duty in an effective manner, she said, adding that this is the time to honour them in gratitude by contributing our mite liberally.
She also advised the Sainik Welfare Board to open an online request for the contribution of the people here so as to enable Puducherrians to contribute their part too.
The Lt Governor also gave away the trophies for top collections last year in which the Education Department stood first followed by Revenue and Disaster managements. Police department bagged the third position.
