Puducherry
Speaking at the passing out parade of the 134 newly recruited police constables here, Narayanasamy urged them to do their duty with dedication and bring credit to Puducherry.
“Make Puducherry a peaceful state and take a pledge that the police force here would be without corruption,” he exhorted. ‘’Police should remind themselves that they are for the people and handle those coming to the stations to lodge complaints with compassion,’’ the chief minister added.
Listing out the excellent service of the Puducherry police force, Narayansamy said, when the ATM fraud case that involved several countries came to the department, the political parties here demanded that it should be handed over to the CBI or inquired through Interpol. However, the cyber cell of the police here did a splendid job and cracked the case by imprisoning all the accused.
Another ATM fraud case was cropped up now in which two persons from Delhi were arrested and remanded here, he added.
He also recalled that Puducherry received two awards by India Today group for the state that best maintained law and order in the country for the last two years in a row and regretted that this year it lost to Tamil Nadu by 0.5 points. He expressed hope that Puducherry police will help to retain the award next year.
Lawyers and graduates are there to work as constables, he said, adding that their educational qualifications would help them to get promotions soon. Senior Police Officials including DGP Sundari Nanda, and SSP Apoorva Gupta participated in the function.
