3,000 people affected in Karaikal: Narayanasamy
As many as 3,000 people in Karaikal region have been affected. They were accommodated in relief camps, said Chief Minister V Narayanasamy.

Talking to mediapersons before leaving for Karaikal along with ministers Malladi Krishna Rao and Shajahan to supervise the relief operations being undertaken in the region, Narayanasamy said the administration was prepared to meet any eventuality arising out of Gaja.
However, there was not much damage in Puducherry. While a few trees were uprooted, a woman was injured in a wall collapse incident.
However, Karaikal region was severely affected with a large number of trees being uprooted and lamp posts getting damaged. This resulted in 90 percent power outage in the region, he added.
Agriculture Minister Kamalakannan is already undertaking relief works there, he said, adding that three thousand were evacuated from low lying areas and sheltered in relief camps and are being fed.Â
Karaikal District Collector was asked to give a report on the damage after assessing the same, the Chief Minister said and added that the Collector, Deputy Collector and another IAS officer sent from here were on rounds throughout the night and undertaken relief works.
