K Chandrasekhar Rao dissolves assembly, Telangana to go for early polls

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Governor ESL Narasimhan to convey the decision on the Cabinet Assembly.

Governor ESL Narasimhan has accepted the recommendation of  the CM and council of ministers for assembly dissolution. 

The Governor has also requested KCR to continue as care taker Chief Minister till the new govt forms.

Speculation was rife for quite some time that Rao may go in for a snap poll.

The decision on whether to hold an early election now rests with the Election Commission.

In normal circumstances, election to the Telangana assembly would coincide with the Lok Sabha polls.
