The Central Pollution Control Board had filed a PIL in the Supreme Court on Tamil Nadu's case against the mixing of sewage in the Arkavathy and Thenpennai rivers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu respectively.

The Central Pollution Board has now filed a new affidavit in the Supreme Court which mentions that the sewage contents are not found at the places like Coorg, where Cauvery originates.

However, the affidavit  has clearly stated that in any case waste water that is let into the rivers should be purified before the release and that certain laid set of rules should be followed while immersing statues and other materials into the rivers rules.

Further, the respective states are expected to respond to the Central Pollution Board report in two weeks in this matter.
