Latha Rajinikanth calls on Raj Thackeray

The Thackeray family, a prominent political family in Maharashtra, and Rajinikanth, a Marathi by birth, have had a close association for many years. Latha Rajinikanth is said to have made the visit to see Raj Thackeray’s wife, Sharmila, who is reportedly unwell. After the meeting, Raj Thackeray took to Twitter to say that the meeting witnessed discussion on cinema, politics and social work in equal measure. Latha said that the visit was a courtesy call. Rajinikanth is also expected to visit the MNS leader in the coming weeks.

When contacted about the meeting, a source from the Kaala star’s camp told DT Next, “The meeting was a personal one as Thackeray and Rajinikanth’s families share a really good relationship. It was not political in nature. But of course, the state of Tamil Nadu politics was discussed in some measure.”

It has emerged now that the actor-turned-politician has completed his shooting schedule and will return to Chennai on July 8, to resume his political journey. Since Kaala’s release, Rajinikanth has been out of Tamil Nadu shooting in various locations for his next film with Karthik Subbaraj.
