The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that it would hold a 'state conference' in the national capital on July 1 to press for its demand to make Delhi a full fledged state.

"To make Delhi a full fledged state, AAP will organize a 'state conference' on July 1 at 3 pm (1500 hrs) at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. You are requested to join at large numbers to take this protest ahead," senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said in a tweet.

The holding of the conference comes after the Delhi Government recently held a special session of the state assembly to press its demand of full statehood for Delhi.

Speaking on the assembly on June 11, AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had demanded for Delhi full statehood and accused Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal of  "creating obstacles" in the developmental works being carried out by  his government.

On the same day, Delhi Assembly had passed a resolution demanding the Centre to bring a Constitution Amendment Bill in Parliament to grant full to statehood to Delhi.
