As the Supreme Court restored her marriage with Shafin Jahan, the homeopathy student sought three days leave to accompany her husband to Kerala. Sivaraj Homeopathy Medical College Principal G Kannan, who was appointed as her guardian by the court also granted her leave to go with her husband.

College officials said that Shafin Jahan accompanied by his advocate and other family members visited the college and took Hadiya in a car on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Hadiya expressed happiness over the court verdict restoring her marriage. “I am extremely happy. I am also overjoyed that the verdict came on International Women’s Day,” she told reporters. Her marriage ended in controversy as she converted to Islam from Hinduism, which was termed as a ‘love jihad’ conspiracy.

Hadiya said she would spend a few days with her husband in Kerala and would return back to resume studies in the college. She rejoined the college on November 28, 2017 to continue her studies following a court direction.

Meanwhile, Kannan said that Hadiya can even continue her studies by staying with her husband in Salem, if she wishes so. The girl has so far been staying in the hostel under the supervision of college authorities.
