‘World receiving positive vibrations from Auroville’

Inaugurating the golden jubilee week at Auroville International city, he said Auroville has been a pioneer in terms of promoting quality education in the country. ‘Serving young minds through education will be a big tribute to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother,’ Modi said. “Sri Aurobindo’s vision of India’s spiritual leadership continues to inspire us even today. Indeed Auroville is a manifestiation of that vision. Over the last five decades, it has emerged as a hub of social, cultural, educational and economic and spiritual innovation. It is important today to remember the vast extent of thought and action of Sri Aurobindo, a man of action, a philosopher, a poet,” the Prime Minister said.

Auroville has brought together men and women, young and old from across boundaries and identities under the charter handwritten by The Divine Mother herself, he said. “It belongs to all of the humanity and is a reflection of our ancient credo ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ the world is one family,” he added. Noting that Auroville was inaugurated in 1968 with delegates from 124 nations in attendance, Modi said that he learnt that today it had 2,400 residents from 49 countries.

Modi wished that Auroville may come up with ideas to empower the ordinary citizens of this country, may people from far and wide bring with them new ideas, may it become the Centre and these ideas are synthesized.

The Prime Minister also released a commemorative postal stamp on Auroville, a book titled “Growth and Blossoming” and handed over the key of the first cluster of 50 units of houses constructed for Auroville youths at the function.
