Filing of nomination papers ended in Meghalaya
The filing of nomination papers for the Assembly elections in Meghalaya scheduled on February 27 came to an end yesterday with a total of 443 candidates filed their nomination papers.

"The filing of nomination was completed without any incident or complaint reported from any part of the state," Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor told UNI.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and his cabinet colleagues have also filed their nomination seeking re-election.
Dr Sangma filed his nomination papers from assembly constituency Ampati and Songsak in Garo Hills region.
Nine of the Cabinet ministers have filed their nomination as Congress nominees.
Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Abu Taher Mondal filed his nomination as candidates of the Congress.
While the combined United Democratic Party and Hill State People's Democratic Party have filed in 48 assembly constituencies, including that of Leader of Opposition Dr Donkupar Roy (UDP) and Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit (HSPDP).
The BJP, which drew blank in the 2013 assembly elections has fielded 47 candidates, while the National People's Party in 53 seats and the Nationalist Congress Party in 17 seats.
Scrutiny of nominations will take place today and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 12.
