Train services resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for a day due to security reasons in the Kashmir valley, where separatists had called for protests after Friday prayers against the killing of civilians and use of pellets allegedly by the security forces.
Srinagar
"We have resumed all train runs in the Kashmir valley which were suspended for security reasons following advisory from police," a railway official told UNI.
Therefore, trains will chug on Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north today. Similarly, trains will also run on Badgam-Srinagar to Anantnag-Qazigund in south to Banihal in Jammu region.
Trains witness heavy rush of passengers on Saturday, particularly in the afternoon when people are going to their homes only to return to their work place on Monday after spending Sunday with their families.
This is the 50th time when train service has been suspended partially or fully this year in the Kashmir valley, where train has become very popular against all other mode of transport because of safe, cheap and fast.
