2G case scarred me: Kanimozhi
DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi on Thursday heaved a sigh of relief for the first time in six years while exiting the Patiala Special Court in New Delhi.

Clad in the signature red and black saree worn mostly by her party women wing members, a ‘triumphant’ Kanimozhi, escorted by her family and friends, braved a sea of cadre and said, “I thank everyone who stood by me. It wasn’t very easy being accused of something that you have not done. It means a lot to the party as well. It is a big day for the party.” She was accompanied by her husband Aravindan, mother Rajathi Ammal and a battery of DMK leaders like Duraimurugan and TR Baalu. Later she said her father M Karunanidhi gladly received the verdict. “Thalapathi (Stalin) informed Kalaignar about verdict. I told him over phone too. He (Karunanidhi) was very happy,” she beamed.
“A huge burden was vested on my shoulders and I was asked to still lead a normal life. It has been taken off today,” Kanimozhi said. Later, in a statement released by her office, she took a jab at the Congress by remarking, “To be falsely accused in a case for a notional loss of 176 thousand crores to appease the opposition that was stalling the Parliament is atrocious,” before adding that she has always that she would see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“I was made an accused just because I was a director in a company for only about 20 days, where I had not attended even a single board meeting and where I had not signed a single document, speaks of the depth to which the system stooped to ensure that I was dragged in so that the DMK is defeated in the election,” she said. Admitting that she was scarred by being dragged into the case, the resurgent MP vowed to engage more with DMK women wing and do all she could to strengthen the party and work for the people of the state.
Sparing a thought for RK Nagar, she also said that the DMK would ‘definitely’ win the by-election.
On CBI going for an appeal against the verdict Kanimozhi said, “We will face the appeal the same way we handled the case in trial court. Many senior DMK leaders have faced such predicaments. I have the courage to face the appeal.”
