Relief operations were underway today to restore normalcy in rain-hit areas of the city, a day after three persons died in rain-related incidents.

Three persons lost their lives in different rain-related incidents in the city yesterday, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy told PTI.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 82.6 mm of rain was recorded in Hyderabad from 8.30 am yesterday to 8.30 am today.

The heavy rain led to inundation in several low-lying areas of the city. Water entered nto homes making life difficult for residents.

In low-lying areas, the intensity of water flow was such that motor vehicles and huts were swept away. Roads in the city suffered heavy damages and traffic was moving at a snail's pace at some places this morning.

Relief personnel were making efforts to pump out accumulated water in residential localities and roads. The GHMC has advised people not to stay in buildings which are in a dilapidated condition.

The Met office has forecast rainfall at some places in Telangana during the day.
