    Jammu & Kashmir, Minister's house attacked, 2 policemen injured

    Two police personnel were injured, one of them critically, when militants attacked the house of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Minister in the coalition government in south Kashmir district late last night, official sources said.

    The ultras also looted four weapons of which one has been recovered. No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

    The officials said a group of militants, armed with automatic weapons, attacked the house of Minister of state for Hajj and Auqaf and MLA Syed Farooq Andrabi at Dooru Shahabad in Anantnag.

    Police personnel guarding the house also retaliated and in the exchange of fire, two police personnel-- Zahoor Ahmad and Gulzar Ahmad-- were injured, who have been hospitalised. The condition of Zahoor is stated to be critical.

    The militants later entered the guard room and took away four weapons of police personnel, they said.

    However, they managed to escape under the cover of darkness before security forces rushed from nearby camps could reach there. The Minister was not present in the house, they said.

    Later, security forces conducted search operation in the area but the militants had escaped. One of the looted rifle has been recovered, they said, adding that a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants.

    The attack on the ministers house came hours after two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants were killed in an encounter in Pulwama district.
