“This is not a serious allegation. Not even an allegation. It’s a planted story. I don’t give importance to fake, planted news,” Rijiju told reporters.
According to the media reports, a senior vigilance official has named Rijiju along with his cousin Goboi Rijiju and senior officials of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).
Kameng Hydro Electric project is the construction of two dams on the rivers Bichom and Tenga in Arunachal Pradesh.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala has, meanwhile, charged that started in 2005, the power project has now got involved in a scam of Rs 450 crore. “Is helping people corruption,” asked the BJP leader from Arunachal Pradesh on the charge that he has written a letter in support of his cousin.
The Union Minister’s comment comes after a newspaper report alleged that Rijiju has written letters to clear payments of the contractors in the construction of two dams for the 600 Mega Watt power project in Arunachal Pradesh. Surjewala told reporters that there are adequate “proofs against Rijiju”.
Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday demanded Union minister Kiren Rijiju be sacked for “trying to sweep under the carpet”, the alleged Rs 450-crore power scam in Arunachal Pradesh.
