    A medium intensity earthquake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, shook Uttarakhand late tonight.

    Epicentered in Dharchula near the India-Nepal border in Uttarakhand, the quake hit Pithoragarh, Champawat, Almora, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the state, the MeT department in Dehradun said.

    The quake with a latitude of 29.8 degree north and a longitude of 80.6 degree east occurred at 10.23 PM, it said. There was no immediate report of any casualty from anywhere.

    Earlier in the day, an earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale had hit the Kullu region in Himachal Pradesh, according to the National Seismological Centre, a unit of Ministry of Earth Sciences.

    The earthquake in Kullu had occurred at 4.12 AM, they said.
