‘Detailed report sought’
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday asked for a detailed report into the encounter in which eight suspected SIMI activists were killed while they tried to flee from Bhopal jail.
New Delhi
A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has already been sent to Bhopal to investigate into the matter, said a senior Home Ministry official. While four jail officials have already been suspended following the incident, an inquiry has been initiated into the matter to ascertain the lapses due to which the SIMI activists managed to flee from the jail.
IB sources said that there was intelligence input that some jail inmates could flee from there. This is one of the biggest incident that took place in the country in which so many jail inmates were killed in encounter.
Following the encounter, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated the forces and also briefed the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the incident.
