Kejriwal says not playing politics on surgical strikes; hits out at BJP
Charging the BJP with twisting his remarks in which he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unmask Pakistan's false propaganda, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he was not playing politics on the matter.
Chennai
In a tweet, Mr Kejriwal said, "BJP twisting my video. My humble appeal to BJP- "Its sensitive matter. Pl don't play politics." Earlier talking to a TV channel, he said, "I am not doing any politics. I had said that we are with government in combating terrorism and it must give befitting reply to their false propaganda. Then why is BJP frustrated?" He added, "Today, I am very sad on the statement made by the BJP. People know who is doing politics. I once again appeal to everyone to unite together in fight against the terror and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue."
AAP leader Sanjay Singh, addressing a press conference here, said the Chief Minister and the party was not playing any politics on this issue.Â
Questioning the BJP, he said, "What is wrong if a Chief Minister urges Prime Minister to unmask the false propaganda of a country (Pakistan) who is encouraging cross-border terror?"
It was AAP, which had opposed the invitation to Pakistan Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to visit Pathankot air base to probe the terror attack there, he added.
Another AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted, "I am amazed that Ravi Shankar Prasad instead of unmasking Pak Propaganda is questioning AK. Shows BJP's bankruptcy of ideas."
Earlier in the day, BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad attacked Mr Kejriwal for saying in a video message yesterday that the Central government should respond to "Pakistan's false propaganda."Â
The BJP leader said, ''In the manner, Mr Kejriwal has raised questions over the action of Army and has demanded to release video of the surgical strikes, it shows that he does not believe in the action taken by the Army. If he believes, why he is getting influenced by the Pakistan's false propaganda.''
