Siddaramaiah gives clean chit to George in DySP death
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday ruled out the dismissal of Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George in connection with the suicide of Mangaluru Deputy Superintendent of Police MK Ganapathy and declined to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Replying to a two-day discussion on the issue in the Assembly, he gave a clean chit to George and two other police officials named by Ganapathy in his suicide note and said that the government would not interfere with the investigation conducted by CID and action would be taken against those involved, once the report is submitted.
Ganapathy had committed suicide on July 7 and just before hanging himself in a Madikeri hotel room, he had in an interview to a local TV news channel accused George and senior police officials AM Prasad and Pranob Mohanty of harassing him.Â
Siddaramaiah said the allegations made by the police officer was not relevant and do not match the facts and there is no proof that the three persons had anything to do with the suicide incident. The telecast remarks cannot be taken up as a dying declaration, he asserted.Â
The Chief Minister expressed anguish and pain over the death of Ganapathy and conveyed his condolence to his family. He also said that the government would express regret if Ganapathy’s wife Pavana was hurt over the statement made by Home Minister G Parameshwara that there was no coordination in the family.Â
He, however, said the Home Minister had reproduced the statement made by Ganapathy’s father in his statement.
