Cong losing opposition status in Tripura
Congress is losing the status of main opposition in Tripura Assembly, as seven out of ten MLAs have decided to join the Trinamool Congress, protesting the electoral understanding with the CPI-M in the just concluded West Bengal polls. Former leader of the Opposition Sudip Roy Barman said here on Monday that seven Congress MLAs, 300 lower level party functionaries and several supporters, led by former CM Samir Ranjan Barman, would join the Trinamool formally soon at a mega rally in the presence of CM Mamata Banerjee.
