Going Viral: Mother’s plea gains support on social media
On April 28, Shivani Sharma received a call from a teacher about an ‘emergency’ half an hour after she dropped off her little daughter Myra at the daycare, Cherub Angel in Gurgaon.

Shivani Sharma was told that her daughter had hit her right thumb and was in a hospital. When she went to the hospital, she learnt, to her horror, that Myra’s thumb had been amputated. The distraught mother filed an FIR against the daycare owner. But she also chose the social media platform to vent her anger and pain.
In the post that has been shared by over 9,000 Facebook users already, Shivani writes, “It means the top half part of the thumb has been crushed and cut apart. I was told that another kid pushed door close and her finger came inside. Can you imagine the situation when my three-year-old is in front of my eyes bleeding? The resident plastic surgeon told me that nothing can be done. This means she will never have a full thumb nor any nail, instead she will have a round cut finger.”
She also writes that the daycare owners came to her home on May 1, apologised and offered to pay for the child’s treatment. “But since then we have not seen or heard back from them,” she alleges in the post.
After her post, the daycare owner removed her profile and Facebook page. Shivani says she will press for action against them and warns parents against unscrupulous daycares.
