Hydrebad High Court vacates stay on Roja’s suspension
In a major setback to the YSR Congress party, the Hyderabad High Court division bench on Tuesday stayed the interim orders of a single judge on suspending the sentence imposed on YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja
Hyderabad
The Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice B Naveen Rao, which heard the arguments of both the sides on Monday for a petition filed by the Legislature Secretary seeking vacation of the stay on Roja’s suspension from the House for one year, granted by a single judge on March 17, delivered its orders on Tuesday.
Roja had filed the writ petition in the High Court following her suspension in December 18 last for alleged “inappropriate behaviour” in the house. When her plea was not promptly listed before the appropriate bench, she approached the Supreme Court, which gave directions for expeditious hearing of the case.
Soon after the apex court’s direction, the Single judge of the HC who heard the case gave the interim orders on Thursday last, staying the operation of the suspension orders. According to the YSR Congress sources, the party may approach the Supreme Court to appeal against the HC Division Bench orders.
