Pranab hails Kerala for IT growth
President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday expressed happiness over vast achievements made by Kerala in different fields, including big leap in Information Technology in the country.

Launching five key projects, including declaration of Kerala as the first digital state in the country, Mr Mukherjee said the development achieved by the state is on par with many developed nations in the world. The state made the country proud by launching many developmental schemes, including poverty eradication project.Â
Kerala, which has highest literacy rate in the country, has also established as first state in the country to launch e-governance. Mobile phone penetration was also at peak covering every nook and corner of the state, the President said.Â
UL Cyber Park launched by Ularunkal Labour Contract Society was expected to provide many job opportunities. Praising the General Park launched by State Social Justice Department, Mr Mukherjee said the initiative would ensure gender equality throughout the country. Stating educated youth were the backbone of the state, he said, it also had credit of ensuring concept of unity in diversity.Â
Other projects launched by him included the state government’s digital empowerment campaign ‘Kaniv.’
