The 3G handset, Freedom 251 has a 4-inch display, Qualcomm 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM, according to details shared by the company.
The ‘lowest-cost’ phone faced several problems including complaints of copying some of the features of the Apple iphone. Besides these, two days back the server of the company crashed bringing the bookings to an abrupt pause. Apart from this, a team from the Income Tax on Friday reportedly questioned the staff of Ringing Bells.
The Indian Cellular Association (ICA) has also written to the Centre that selling a smartphone at this rate was impossible. Further, there were also rumours that the company may import Chinese makes and deliver them to customers who have made bookings.
The company will have to deliver all the bookings by the end of this year.
