    Goa police probing into postcard from ISIS

    Goa police have started investigation a post card, which they received last week at the secretrariat Porvorim, purportedly signed by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) that threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar over beef ban in manyh part of the country

    The post card received at the secretariat, which was posted locally was forward to the police. The letter handwritten in five lines have made mention of an alleged killing of a man over eating beef and message threating to take revenge by referring to Mr Modi and Parrikar. The anonymous message has also expressed anger over ban on cow slaughter in the country.

    Inspector General of Police (IGP) V Renganathan said that they have initiated an inquiry, police have been sensitised the anti-terrorist squad (ATS), police stations specially branch and others including intelligence agencies about the postcard. 

    As the post card was posted locally, police decided to beef up the security for Defence Minister, whenever he is in the state.

    In view of ISIS letter, intelligence inputs following the Pathankot attack, Goa police yesterday held a joint coordination meeting with the navy, coast guard and other intelligence agencies and all security related preventive measures were discussed.
