Hyderabad-based SpiceJet, India’s favourite budget airline has in another operational excellence feat, edged out other airlines to become the most punctual domestic airline within the full-grown carrier segment for its departures at the Hyderabad airport
Hyderabad
The airline has registered a departure OTP of 82.2 per cent for its Hyderabad airport for the month of December last year outpacing full-grown carriers in its segment, the airlines claimed in a release here today.
SpiceJet has employed speed enhancement of its Bombardier Q400 planes, thus squeezing the targeted turnaround time as a key strategy for the achievement.
SpiceJet Senior General Manager (Flight Operations), Rohit Pal, said that Enhancing speed and tweaking schedules has not only worked in our favour towards improving our on-time performance but has also enabled us to better our fleet utilization, turnaround time and counter onward flight delays at congested airports.
Our revised TAT for ground operations which is 28 minutes for Boeing (737-800) departure and 18 minutes for Bombardier Q400 is one of the best as per industry standards, he added.
SpiceJet has been delivering the industry’s best numbers on the operational front in the recent past. The airline has registered a PLF (passenger load factor) of above 90 percent for nine months in a row including December, 20?15, the release added.
SpiceJet operates 293 daily flights to 40 destinations, including 34 domestic and 6 international ones.
SpiceJet connects its network with a fleet of 25 Boeing 737NG and 2 Airbus A320 family aircraft along with 14 Bombardier Q-400s.
The majority of SpiceJet’s fleet offers SpiceMAX, the most spacious economy class seating in India and perhaps the world, as an additional fee option.
