    MPs will now travel to Parliament in electric buses

    These lithium-ion-powered buses, running on the same battery that is used to propel satellites made by ISRO, will ferry Members of Parliament, said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

    New Delhi

    Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would gift two electric buses for MPs that will help them play their part in preventing choking of the national capital. “If all goes as per plan, the Prime Minister will donate these two electric buses to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on December 21,” he said. Indian Space Research Organ-isation (ISRO) scientists have developed the lithium-ion batteries, costing Rs 5 lakh each, to be used in the buses. He further said the government has plans to convert 1.5 lakh buses in the country to run on batteries and added that manufacturing of bio-CNG would be encouraged in Nagpur.

    Official release of report

    Meanwhile, the report prepared by IIT-Kanpur, which played a key role behind the recent announcement of a series of anti-pollution measures by the Delhi government, will be officially released. Titled ‘Source Apportionment Study of PM2.5 and PM10, the report also recommends a switch to Euro VI emission compliant petrol and diesel.
