“The film is the remake of Tamil blockbuster Jigarthanda. I will be reprising the role of Lakshmi Menon,” says the actress. She instantly adds, “Though it is a honest remake, the film has catered to the sensibilities of the Telugu audience. This remake isn’t a frame-by-frame adaptation of the Tamil version of Jigarthanda. In Tamil, Lakshmi Menon plays the daughter of Sethu’s cook and there were scenes in which she involved in shoplifting to add to the fun factor that elevated her character graph. The name of my character is Bujjamma, which will provide comic relief to the same extent on a par with Lakshmi’s in Tamil but in a different way.”
In Tamil, Mirnalini is awaiting the release of Champion in October, directed by Susienthiran. She tells us that she has mixed feelings about being a part of two releases in two months. “It is good to be a part of three releases in a year. I also completed shooting for my portions for a couple of them long ago. However, I am a little nervous too,” she smiles. The actress, who was employed with a leading software company in Bengaluru has now quit the job and has taken up film as her full-time job. “I had to convince my parents before I made a decision to quit my job for films. However, my ex-employers were supportive of me and gave me the permission whenever I wanted to shoot. Now that I have been getting more offers, especially in Telugu, I decided to take a plunge into films full-time,” she concludes.
