A festival of Kanchipuram silks

Kanakavalli has curated a range of soft, breezy handloom drapes that are perfect for sultry summer days, including a selection of Bengal cottons and linens with delicate hints of silk. These light-as-air saris in vibrant summer hues and iridescent pastels, feature colour blocks, stripes and classic motifs, weaving together the traditional and the contemporary.

Kanakavalli is a curated line of kanjivarams, paying homage to and showcasing the legacy of the traditional weave from the temple town of Kanchipuram. Creative entrepreneur Ahalya S launched the brand after a decade-long career in curating saris and handcrafted jewellery, in a continued endeavour to celebrate the queen of silks. 

With the hope of housing the brand befittingly in a space that would underline the highest standards in craft, provenance and process – all of which go into the creation of the kanjivaram – Kingsley, a lovingly restored residence in Chennai’s Chetpet area, became the flagship destination for Kanakavalli’s signature store. 

Kanakavalli also has three more stores, one in South Chennai, one in Coimbatore and one in Bengaluru.
