Kaala teaser clocks 10 million views in a day

Dhanush immediately unveiled the teaser and wrote, “Thalaivar teaser eppo release aanaalum eppidi release aanaalum diwali dhaan. Mass dhaan. (Regardless of the release date and time, it is Deepavali time for fans). 

The teaser starts off with veteran star Nana Patekar asking what kind of a name Kaala is, followed by a Samuthirakani’s voice-over, which “Kaala means black, Kaala means God of Death and finally, a protector who fights for his own people” - an outline of Rajini’s character from the movie.

Superstar Rajinikanth, dressed in a black kurta, is seen speaking in the Tirunelveli slang of the Tamil language. The audience and Rajini fans have commented that the dialogue has a political subtext to it. 

The teaser of Kaala went on to fetch six million views in over 12 hours and 10 million views in a day, breaking several records of Rajinikanth’s previous film Kabali’s teaser. 

Kaala will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi in April. Besides Rajinikanth and Patekar, the movie also features Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, actor-director Samudrakani, Eswari Rao and a host of others. 

Ranjith’s favourite musician, Santosh Narayanan has once again, teamed up with the filmmaker to compose the musical score for the film.
