A musical journey, really enduring

Chennai-based Zoe Siddharth, who has paved her way to the top four list of India’s first English musical show ‘The Stage - Season 3’, gives a sneak -peek into her musical journey and her experience of being a part of the show Most of us would remember Zoe Siddharth from the music show ‘The Stage 3’, as one the two contestants who won the ‘Go For Gold’ ticket to step into the top 12 contestants with her electrifying performance. Zoe, who just turned 19, has made heads turn with her scintillating cover versions of We Don’t Have to Take Our Clothes Off by Ella Eyre, Hello by Adele,Wrecking ball by Miley Cyrus and Love Me Like You Do by Elle Goulding in her YouTube channel that boasts of nearly 2000 subscribers.

With much curiosity, when we ask Zoe what led her to venture into western music, she says, “Thanks to the pop sensations of 90’s such as ‘The Backstreet Boys’ and ‘Guns and Roses’, my interest towards western music grew manifold.

Though I would be the first one from my family to venture into western music, my parents have always encouraged me in every step that I took.”

The Chennai girl while divulging about her journey into this show says, “It was a long and tiring journey. I have been watching musical shows like ‘X Factor’ and ‘American Idol’ since the age of seven and dreamt of performing one day. So, when I came across this show, it was a dream come true. But sadly, my first attempt to get into ‘The Stage’ had failed as I was considered underage to qualify for any of the categories. I returned with a heavy heart, but eagerly awaited Season 3.

For this season, though the auditions went on a positive note there were no follow ups, and again my hopes came crashing down. But I knew it was not the end. Opportunity knocked on my door once again when I happened to notice the last chance auditions and that’s where it clicked. Vishal Dadlani and Monica Dogra (judge/panel members) noticed my videos and reverted to me.

And here I am.”

On the experience of being a part of India’s first English music talent hunt, the teenager says, “It is too good to be true. I still get goose bumps when I realise I am a part of this show. Everybody taught me something because every person is so different in his/her own way and I am still learning. ‘The Stage’ has made me more confident and patient as an individual and has given me an insight into the art of performing.”

“More than anything else, the recognition that you get is priceless. From a shy and introvert girl, Ihave become more versatile and outgoing now,” adds Zoe about the show that airs on Colors Infinity.

Zoe, who is already famous for her cover versions of the chart-buster English albums, is planning to take a plunge into composing original tunes.

Finally, when we ask her how important it is for her to win this show, she says, “I am very happy to make it to the final four, which is a big achievement for a person like me who was praying to get through auditions.”
