The unibrow or monobrow is a single eyebrow created when the two eyebrows meet in the middle above the bridge of the nose. While some are naturally blessed with beautiful unibrows, it is also quite simple to create the look with the help of an eyebrow pencil and mascara.

Green Trends’ senior stylist and brand trainer Vanlalmuanpuii has put together a guide for DT Next readers to help achieve three unibrow make-up looks that you can rock this festive season.

    Creating the unibrow

Outlining the eyebrows in angular shape helps in further accentuating the look. Using mascara, start joining the eyebrows by brushing the wand horizontally and blend it with a paper towel to reduce the sharpness. One can also use a little foundation powder over this to reduce the darkness of the mascara.

    The regal look

Deepavali is the perfect time to bring out the queen in you. The glittering outfit and accessories call for a bold look. Going bold also has its perks of choosing from a plethora of colours like red and pink to maroon and purple. Bold eyes paired with unibrow add depth and drama to the overall look.

To make your eyes pop, the trick is to create depth by first applying a lighter coloured shadow over your eyelid followed by a darker eye shadow on the crease of your eye just right above the lid. Fill in the lid with a bold colour that compliments your skin tone the best.

Finish the look with a winged liner and mascara. Remember, blending is the key to a seamless look. The complete regal look can be further accentuated with a bold lip colour.

    The brunch look

A casual breezy look is the perfect way to kick-start your day. The key to obtaining this look is to not use too many harsh lines on the face but to make it look soft, fresh and dewy.

This doesn’t mean one must go all natural and just stick to kajal and lipstick. A little shimmer goes a long way especially in the day.

Always remember, less is more. This look helps define the unibrow and gives a subtle nude makeup-up look. Line the outer corners of your eyelids with any pastel eye shadow of your choice mixed with a brownish beige shadow. Shade the outer corners of your lids with the same shade eye shadow and fill in the centre of your eyelids with gold glitter.

You can also dab some silver glitter on the inner corners of your eyelids to open up the eyes. Line your upper lids mildly with eye liner and use a smudging brush to create that soft look. Also make sure to curl your lashes and add a coat of mascara. Add a tint of a neutral lip shade to enhance the overall look and set your hair with soft curls to achieve the breezy look.

    The metallic look

Metallic colours don’t necessarily have to be loud. Simple light metallic shades also go a long way in adding the extra glamour to your face. Metallic colours help accentuate the unibrow by the use of right shades that suit your skin colour.

Line the outer corners of your eye with a lighter shade and work your way in with darker shades. Fill in the centre of your eyelids with a glittery shade to bring out your eyes. You can also work your way through this look by starting from the left corner of your eye and moving towards the inner corner of your eyelid.

Line your upper eyelid with a thin line of eyeliner and apply thick kohl on the lower eyelid to highlight your eyes. You can do with or without mascara according to your preference. Bold or not, use bright colours on your lips to complement metallic eyes.
