Speaking on the occasion, Arya, who is also the team’s (co-owned by St. Angelo’s VNCT) brand ambassador, said, “Football is my favourite sport. So, I didn’t think twice before agreeing to join the league. However, my only criterion was that I would be given an opportunity to play with Ronaldinho. They said yes, and that was it.”

The team, that has now been rechristened St. Angelo’s VNCT Chennai Singhams, will compete in the 17-day futsal tournament, which will be held in three phases, and will kickstart in Mumbai from September 15, before culminating in a grand final in Dubai on October 1.

This year, there will also be an addition of two new teams — Delhi and Hyderabad - along with Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi and Mumbai.
