Melania Trump’s ‘Hurricane Heels’ get trolled on Twitter
The US first lady Melania Trump became the butt of all jokes on twitter after she was photographed in an all-black ensemble with a green bomber jacket, aviator sunglasses and black stilettos as she exited the White House to visit Hurricane Harvey-hit Texas on Tuesday.

Naturally, twitter lost its mind over Melania’s impractical and insensitive footwear choice and dubbed her shoes “Hurricane Heels.” The hashtag #ShoeGate began trending on the microblogging site.
A twitter user, Holly O’Reilly, shared a photograph of the first lady and wrote, “And here we have Melania Trump modelling what NOT to wear to a hurricane: 5-inch stilettos.”
Another user, Zach Braff, tweeted, “Melania headed to a disaster zone in stilettos is my Halloween costume.” However, there were many who justified the First Lady as well. Miriam Elder wrote on twitter, “Anyone talking about Melania’s shoes has clearly never been to Russia or Eastern Europe in the winter. Get over it.” Many others showed optimism that maybe Melania had planned for a change of shoes, in the plane, before landing in Texas.
The White House was later forced to issue a statement following the criticism which clarified that Melania had, in fact, brought a change of shoes for Texas. Later, the First Lady was spotted getting off the plane in a crisp white button-down shirt, black cropped pants, A FLOTUS cap and Adidas Stan Smith sneakers.
