Kodaikanal Won’t fame Sofia Ashraf is back with yet another video titled Period Pattu. In the latest video made by the rapper/activist in collaboration with Blush to mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the cool ‘Sista from the South’ sings about sanitary pads, tampons, menstrual cups, all through a quirky adaptation of villu paatu, a traditional Tamil storytelling form.

The video largely follows a pattern of presenting each menstrual product, listing down all its benefits before explaining all the shortcomings, which there are plenty, right from health risks and environmental harm owing to insufficient dumping space, while also giving solutions. Her two fellow singers, also dressed in sarees with gajra (flowers), add an element of comedy that serves to accentuate her most important points. The video is being shared widely on social media, which also garnered positive reviews unanimously.
