The footage shows a new-born, being supported by a nurse, lifting one foot, and then the other, in movements that mimic walking. The video was posted on Facebook by Arlete Arantes from Brazil.
Limited details are available to identify where exactly the incident took place or whose baby it is, but the insignia on the midwife’s robes suggest she works at a Santa Cruz Hospital, in a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, south Brazil.
Newborns generally take up to 12 months to learn to walk and that usually comes only after they have achieved and passed other major milestones in their development such as hand to eye coordination, sitting up and crawling.
