Justice For All takes law closer to the common man
In an attempt to make laws comprehensible to the common man, to empower him or her with necessary legal knowledge, popular lawyer, journalist and columnist Sanjay Pinto has come up with a new book titled Justice For All.
Chennai
Launched in the city recently by Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, the book approaches the legal system from a layman’s perspective and addresses issues a person will face in his day-to-day life.
Consumer protection, insurance and crime are among the 24 branches covered in the book. Speaking at the event, Sanjay in his inimitable style, spoke about his tryst with law as early as when he was a 11-year-old schoolboy.
“The words O S 230/84 continued to ring in my ears because that was the case my father filed and fought up to the Supreme Court. As a little boy, I would carry my schoolbag to the courtroom and witness the proceedings. And most of the dinner table conversations would revolve around the case, there was no escape. So, I used to breathe law from a tender age,” he said.
The event was held at Odyssey bookstore at Adyar and a number of senior IAS officers and bureaucrats attended the event. Seated in the front row was former top cop R Nataraj who took part in the lively discussion.
