Nawazuddin Siddiqui takes on secularism debate
A video shared by critically acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, which tries to strike at the heart of secularism and make an emotional appeal to the viewer, is going viral. The video minus any dialogues takes the format that Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur used in her viral video.
Chennai
Nawaz is seen showing a series of placards. In the short film directed by his brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui, the actor announced through the placards that he got his DNA tested. He goes on to say that his test revealed he was 16.66% Hindu, 16.66% Muslim, 16.66% Sikh, 16.66% Buddhist and 16.66% all the other religions in the world.Â
But towards the end, Nawazuddin’s soul, his placard read, was 100 percent that of an artiste. Nawazuddin’s message, that comes after a series of political and social spats on religious divisionism, has received praise from all quarters.
