Eat right to fight diseases
No matter how much exercise one might do or health initiatives one might take, a person’s health is decided primarily by his food intake.
Chennai
The adverse effects of junk and processed foods is common knowledge but there is little awareness about regular everyday foods that play an important role in diseases prevention and cure. In fact, there are foods that harm and foods that heal.
Foods to be avoided
Foods that increase the uric acid content in the body, thereby negating any nutritional benefits they might have otherwise are a complete no-no. Developing one’s immunity and the body’s ability to fight disease are very important to fight and or prevent diseases. Phytonutrients are chemicals found only in plants and protect the plant from germs, fungi, insects etc. These same phytonutrients help flush out heavy metals from the blood and increase immunity in the human body too. Following are foods that are good at all times.
Foods to be consumed regularly
Beetroot, carrots and cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and kale can be had everyday. Cruciferous vegetables increase anti-tumor immunity. Turmeric and garlic help increase human cell longevity, while also increasing healing and immunity. Both drumsticks (murungaikai), and leaves of the drumstick tree (murungaikai keerai) are a rare combination of Vitamin C, calcium, iron and zinc and a must in our diet. Berries, dates and pure honey increase haemoglobin and antioxidants in the blood, thereby maintaining anti-cancer immunity levels.
As humans, we belong to one human family and one can be either a resource person or a resistance for themselves and others. Even with every other resource available, having a problematic health is the highest form of resistance for a person. But with robust health one is a resource for himself and for others.
So take the responsibility, be a human resource through a healthy body, mind and spirit. This will bring a huge shift in the way you view yourself; from being a liability to being an asset to yourself and others. After all, the best gift in life is good health. Treasure it, guard it at all times.
Wishing you a life full of health, peace and happiness. Aham Brahmasmi!!
