Chennai
Do you feel dining etiquettes are an intrinsic part of one’s personality?
Yes, of course. Dining etiquette may or may not be taught at home and is not a part of regular school curriculum. Good manners and etiquette help in defining yourself. The world is now a global village and we have to be mindful of social obligations, how they affect our standing and others’ perception of us.
Give more details about the video on dining etiquette that you would be launching?
We aim to educate and inform the new generation of the nuances of dining etiquette. We intend to impart fundamental knowledge on table manners to schools across India. In order to make the communication interesting and relevant, we decided to create a DVD with animated characters in a story format. Some of the topics that will be covered will include basic table setting, posture while eating, correct placement of napkin, courtesies that should be extended, buffet manners and faux pas to avoid on the dining table.
What is the biggest problem Indians face while sitting for a formal dinners?
Our table manners introduce us even before we can introduce ourselves. Knowledge of certain norms is vital. Our country is a melting pot of diverse cultures and traditions but as a nation we need broader exposure to global dining norms.
