Space technology to usher new breed of capital investors: Top scientist
Noted Space Scientist and former ISRO Chairman Prof UR Rao on Tuesday said that commercial exploitation of space technology by the private space agencies might soon become a reality.

Recent developments in international space law may not prevent private space agencies in future to extract minerals/sources of energy for commercial purposes in other planets.
This would act as a great incentive for capital formation in space technology business.
He said, “Space technology involved all disciplines and gives immense satisfaction to the student community.”
Prof Rao was speaking after inaugurating third the instalment of student satellite training programme organised by team STUDSAT under the leadership if Nitte Meenkashi Institute of Technology, here.
Through this training program, Team STUDSAT is gearing up for the development of Twin Nano Satellite called STUDSAT-II.
Urging that there is a need for reusable launch vehicle to reduce the launch cost, Prof Rao called on the students to explore the possibilities in this domain.
Speaking on the occasion, CA Prabhakar, project director, CARTOSAT-3, ISRO advised the students to explore more on low cost technology to keep the mission criticality in mind.
Vindo Chippalkatti, Vice-President, Centum Electronics emphasised on involvement of private sector on Domestic and International research organisations effectively so as to encourage the student fraternity.
Prof NR Shetty, Chairman, Karnataka State Universities’ review commission expressed his pleasure over the Students active participation in STUDSAT-2 project and assured all support for the timely execution.
