As the world's greatest athletes prepare for the gala, the brand has launched Seamaster Diver 300M 'Rio 2016' limited to 3,016 units.

The limited edition watch is inspired by the Copacabana waves. The wave pattern has been taken from the mosaic design on Copacabana’s sidewalks and used as an inspiration for a similar style on the watch’s striking lacquered black dial, read a statement from OMEGA.

The upgraded and enhanced Seamaster Diver 300M 'Rio 2016' features a uni-directional rotating diving bezel that is made from black polished ceramic. What sets this watch apart from its previous models, are the lacquered numbers in red, green, yellow and blue, which represent the exuberance of Rio as well as the five colours of the famous Olympic rings.

Other features of this timepiece are typical of the iconic OMEGA Seamaster 300M style. These include a date window at 3 'o’clock, a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock, and polished facetted skeleton rhodium-plated hands coated in white Super-LumiNova.

Presented on a stainless steel bracelet, the timepiece is driven by the exclusive OMEGA calibre 2500 and is water resistant up to 300 metres/1000 ft. The screw-in caseback has been embossed with the 'Rio 2016' logo and engraved with an individual limited edition number on the reverse side of the polished and brushed stainless steel case.

The timepiece is priced at Rs.268,100 ($4,000).
