To create more awareness on the importance of stopping the practice before more young lives are ruined, the UNICEF as part of its campaign against child marriage, has come up with a video called Sadly Ever After. The video that has gone viral has amassed almost 17 million views.

In the video, a young girl is seen preparing for her wedding. At first, her face isn’t shown and viewers may be tricked that the girl is of age to get married. By the middle of the clip, the girl’s face is revealed, and obviously, she isn’t happy to get married since she’s not even old enough to know the meaning of it.

The video also shows small shoes, a teddy bear lying on the floor, and a colouring book, which give viewers the message that the bride is only a child who still has to enjoy her childhood before venturing into married life.

Towards the end, the film reveals that if current trends continue, the total number of married female children will grow from more than 700 million to 950 million by 2030.
