Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kutthu opens with Veera (Gautham Karthik) planning to take his girlfriend Thendral (Vaibhavi Shandilya) along with his friend Vasu (Shaa Raa) and Vasu’s girlfriend Kavya (Yashika Aanand) to Thailand and see how they get along with each other. They rent a beachside bungalow and go around the city, while the boys’ efforts in impressing their girlfriends go futile. As they try various ways to get their attention, much to their shock, they discover that there is an evil spirit in the house. When they try to escape from the bungalow, they are pulled inside to find out that the ghost wants to have sex with one of the boys. The girls, who managed to escape from the house, bring a priest (Rajendran) and nun (Bala Saravanan) to rescue their boyfriends from being possessed by spirit. These scenes are not exactly a laugh riot though spiced with a few double meaning jokes. With more characters coming in, the film picks up pace in the second half.
The dialogues are conversations that happen between any school or college going kid and have managed to provide some comic relief. However, the script has terribly fallen flat and has nothing to look keep the audience expectant apart from the adult humour.
Gautham has once again justified his potential after Rangoon and Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren.
With his looks and modulations, he easily steals the show. Vaibhavi and Yashika though have important roles, and are seen throughout the film, excess skin show has suppressed their performances. Debutant Chandrika Ravi plays the ghost and has struck a fine balance between performance and glamour.
Along with Gautham, Chandrika’s performance comes across as another positive point in the film. Karunakaran, Rajendran, Bala, John Vijay and Madhumitha take care of the laugh department towards the climax. Ballu’s stunning visuals of Thailand make the film a visual treat. However, Balamurali Balu’s songs and background music of the film is a let down. Though Santhosh has set the stage for modern-day adult comedy with IAMK, he has seemed to have lost the plot midway. Overall, IAMK is a one-time watch.
