The Devil Wears Prada gave film lovers what is easily one of Meryl Streep’s most iconic characters, that even got her an Academy Award nomination. Now, a deleted scene from the film has shed new light on Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly. The scene, which is now going viral, takes place at the infamous benefit, for which Anne Hathway’s character, Andy, missed her boyfriend’s birthday. In the scene, Miranda Priestly’s drunken husband makes an appearance and begins to rant at the guests. But, Andy quickly distracts an offended guest, saving the day. In an uncharacteristic turn, Miranda turns around and mouths the words ‘Thank you’ to Andy. As any Devil Wears Prada fan would know, Miranda is not one to feel vulnerable or show gratitude. The scene would have softened Miranda’s cold-icy persona, reducing her character’s strength. Naturally, fans are thankful that the scene was deleted. Twitter user, Taryn Arnold, wrote, “Wow, I have never been so thankful a scene was cut from a movie. Thank you, Devil Wears Prada Gods!”
