“At one point, weight loss seemed like a huge challenge for me. But when I realised that I’ve got a lot of health issues and cannot take proper care of myself and my family, I was shattered. I wanted to take control of my life. I started reading articles on weight loss and created healthy recipes. Many have a misconception that starving would help in weight loss. But no, starving could lead to other ailments,” she says.
She started off her transformation journey by making small changes in her diet. “I am an obesity survivor. From being 95 kg I achieved an ideal weight of 55 kg with few changes to my lifestyle. The biggest challenge that I faced was to stay committed to my new and healthy lifestyle. I started by quitting sugar and stopped eating carbs completely. Instead, began consuming more vegetables and fruits. Within a few months, I could see visible changes in my body and I continued the same diet pattern,” shares Sonali.
After seeing a healthier version of herself, Sonali started presenting herself beautifully. This boosted her confidence. She took part in a few beauty pageants. “Once I started my fitness journey, there was no looking back. I decided to incorporate exercises as well. Rather than spending thousands of money in gyms, I started doing easy floor exercises at my home itself,” she says.
The mother of two believes that fitness is not just a one-time thing; it should be a lifestyle that you strictly follow. There are many mothers who think that weight loss is not possible for them. “I wanted to inspire mothers and encourage women like me to follow their dreams even after marriage and childbirth with their strong determination. Feeling healthy is more important than looking healthy. Since most of us follow a sedentary lifestyle, the risk of getting lifestyle-related ailments is also high. Every individual should spend at least an hour every day in caring for their health,” she points out.
